The Holiday Bazaar, sponsored by the Women’s Fellowship, is the largest church event of the year! It is held on the first or second Saturday of November (November 9, 2013), from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Known as one of the best – if not THE best – Bazaar in the area, it is well attended by community members.
All items at the Bazaar are provided by members of the church. Two craft groups (Monday Morning Workshop and Perky Patchers) meet regularly throughout the year, making everything from stuffed animals and steering wheel covers to children’s dresses and sweaters and Christmas tree ornaments. Additionally, many other members provide items they have made for this purpose. It is exciting to see the talent at work each year! A church artist group – the Palette Pals – provide a variety of hand painted items, as well!
Members of the congregation donate other items. The Jewelry booth is very popular – with slightly used costume jewelry and lovely gold and sterling silver pieces! Also popular – a Linen booth handling everything from placemats to linen tablecloths – handkerchiefs to bath towels – complete bedding sets and special pillows! Two booths handle items that are Next to New or are not quite so special – more garage sale items – Trifles and Treasures! And, a Tool booth lets you find just that tool you needed at a price you can’t resist!
A Silent Auction always has very special items (silver, china, paintings, one-of-a-kind pieces) and services, such as a trip to the airport or dinner for 8, available for bid from Bazaar opening until 1:45 p.m And amazing theme Baskets are available to be viewed – and raffle tickets purchased – several weeks before the Bazaar!
And food is not forgotten! Home baked goods of all kinds (Kitchen Pantry) - Cookies by the dozens – all lovingly made by the men and women of the church! A Cheese booth sells delectable Swiss and Cheddar cheese by the chunk, pecans, and delicious coffee. In the morning, coffee and pastries are available for enjoyment – while the youth of the church provide a lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers!
Profit from the Bazaar, in cooperation with the Missions Board, is designated to specific mission partners as well as specific church projects. But, best of all is the fellowship the Bazaar provides – over 150 volunteers participate in the event – while many hundreds more donate items. This is one time when everyone can work together for the same purpose – in a variety of ways!
